Trend Tuesday: Another Color Post

Yeah, I’m still on a color kick. This week our color trend will come compliments of Behr Paint Company. The first time I saw thier 2010 color preview I thought it was brilliant.

You can see all the 2010 Design and Color Trends here. But the one that I’ve focused in on is Dark Glamour.

There is something so elegant about it, but in an understated way. I love the way Behr puts it in the description: “If shifting gears is what it takes to push the traditional into the sensational, this palette knows how to engage the mechanics. In a chimera of style, art deco distinction draws inspiration from vintage chic and industrial age innovation. Spirited by thrift, this sensuous decor is urban decay at the edge of glamour.”

A little wordy, but an excellent way of describing the edgy elegance that the brooding burgundy and brown brings to the usually upbeat turquoise.

Wednesday Blog Babble: Live in Full Color

Last Week’s blog love went to the Color for Your Home blog from Sensational Color. This week’s goes to it’s sister blog, Live in Full Color.

While the color theme is still going strong, this blog focuses on color in real life, as opposed to just in your home. It showcases  inspiration and ideas and talks about how color influences our daily lives. It draws its color muses from events like the Oscars, the Olympics, and various holidays.

Every post is exciting and has a touch of whimsical sassiness… it’s a joy to read.

Trend Tuesday: Wall Sticky Art

I remember playing with these as a kid. Shapes and other patterns emerged on windows and walls in a decidedly kid-ish way. I was usually limited to my bedroom and forbidden from the formal dining room, which I never understood. (It was so… beige!)

Wall stickers have grown up. Holy cow.

These would be at home in the trendiest of dining rooms. Or bedrooms. Or down a hallway. I wonder if I could get one for my office? They don’t damage walls, are pretty inepensive, are easy to install and easy to remove. Can’t paint your walls or install wallpaper? These are a super option.

They range from “grown up” to modern, to artistic, to just plain fun. And of course, they still make them for kids too. Each photo links to where it can be purchased.

Fun Find Friday: Royale Bath Set

I stumbled across this set while traipsing around the interwebs and was SHOCKED when I clicked the graphic and discovered two things: it’s cheap and from WAL-MART.

Modern and clean, with a tasteful circluar almost international-feeling pattern, rich blue color and an a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e rug. I can think of a couple of other places around the house for that rug actually.

Sigh. If these came in my particular color of green, I’d be replacing all my stuff.

Anyway… the photos all link to the items.

And here is a bonus (ok, two) I found on the rug’s webpage…

Is it just me or is Wal-Mart’s style factor improving?

Wednesday Blog Babble: Color for Your Home

If you’ve been following our blog, you know that we have been delving into some interior color trends for the 2010 year.

If color is something that you are really  interested in (and my summary postings aren’t getting it done for you) than the Color for Your Home blog is where you need to be.

One of the blogs from the site Sensational Color, Color for Your Home follows current interior color trends very closely, constantly posting inspiration and offering advice. It talks about color relationships and what works and doesn’t.

It is a fantastic guide, and an excellent addition to your blog reader.

Trend Tuesday: Other 2010 Colors of the Year

I couldn’t resist. Last week we talked about the Pantone ® color of the year. But they aren’t the only one who does color predictions. Here are a two others.

Color Marketing Group (CMG) is an international non-profit organization of and for color design pros. Their “CMG’s 2010 Next Color” is a soft purple called Mardi Grape. (Cute name. I sometimes wish I could be that person who just gets to sit in a cubicle and dream up cool names for colors.. or carpet… or paint… or…)

Another 2010 color was named by Colour Futures and is an “airy and optimistic blue.” They actually have a sweet guide to colors, inlcuding lots of trendy schemes that can be downloaded here.

There are tons more out there. In fact, we are going to continue to delve into the trends of color the next few weeks.

Fun Find Friday: stylish glass lighting

I must confess… I have always been a sucker for visible light bulbs. The first time I stepped into what is now my favorite restaurant in Seattle (elemental@gasworks, for those who care) I was completely done in by the long naked Edison bulbs hanging from the ceiling. My obsession with them has only grown since then.

When I stumbled upon this fantastic line of lights from de Majo illuminazione (via the Trendir blog) I was in love again. Even thought the entire site is in what looks to be Italian and I cannot read a word of it, [Wait! There is an English button up top! Hooray!] the combination of the clean modern-industrial style with the delicacy of glass is stunning.
